From early times the Church has seen in many candled glory The cross-framed wreath of evergreen Which tells the Advent stroy. Rejoice and gladly sing, For soon shall come our King. Four candles, one at every side, Teh Advent hues are showing, And each Sunday in Adventtide One more is set aglowing Then sing with right good cheer, OUr Lord is drawing near. Then at the center stands serene One candle whitely gleaming, And this at Chrismas will be seen Alight and brightly beaming, To tell to all the earth the news of Jesus' birth. So let us say our Advent prayer, May we also be ready, Our hearts aglow like candles fair, Withlove both warm and steady. Lift up your heart and voice: The Saviour comes! Rejoice!
